Guests
As a general rule, all attendees to my events are required to have their own Meetup profile.
On certain “easy” events, I may open up the Meetup “guest” option to allow up to one guest per attendee. Otherwise, all my event attendees are required to sign up for events using their own Meetup profile.
Guests will not be allowed to attend any overnight camping or backpacking events. Each attendee must be over the age of 18 and a member of the Charlotte Piedmont Hiking Club or have pre-approval from the event organizer or event leader.
Exceptions may be made on a case by case basis. Please private message the organizer if you have someone you would like to invite but they are unable to create their own Meetup profile.
Why don’t I allow attendees to bring guests to all my events?
-
Trip Participant Waiver of Liability. A person who RSVPs to an event has indicated they read and accept the “Trip Participant Waiver of Liability”.
-
No-Shows. Too frequently, attendees had arrived at events and stated their “guest” was unable to make it. Their guest status prevented another member from attending the event.
-
On more than one occasion, “Guests” of attendees have created uncomfortable situations for myself as well as other attendees.
-
Many events are in secluded, wilderness areas. Knowing a little bit about other attendees can provide a little bit of comfort and safety for others who sign up.
