Cancellations and No-Shows
Cancellations and no-shows:
Please, when you sign up for an event, make the necessary arrangements to attend.
For the safety and health of everyone, many hike organizers may limit the number of attendees allowed on their events. Unfortunately, far too many people reserve a spot and just not show up or cancel at the last minute... thus leaving others unable to attend.
Please note that no-shows (Includes cancelling day-of or day-prior) may reduce your participation in my future events. Volunteers, like myself, spend a lot of time planning and organizing hikes weeks in advance. No-shows make them feel as if their efforts are wasted. Don't be a no-show!
If you need to change your RSVP, please be respectful and courteous to others and update it as soon as possible. This will ensure the person moving up from the waiting list has adequate time to prepare.
I have long resisted micro-managing participation but the ongoing issue of no-shows forces me to enact a more proactive approach. To ensure as many attendees as possible can participate, anyone signing up who has a no-show or a last-minute cancellation on record
may be moved to the “not going” list without notice.
My personal policy as an event organizer:
This includes…
-
Those who do not show up for an event when they reserved a spot will be restricted from future events.
-
Those who cancel just prior to the event will be recorded as a no-show. This includes cancelling the day-of or the day-prior of the event.
-
Those who habitually sign up early then cancel within a couple days of an event may be restricted from future events.
Exceptions might be considered for those who were moved from the waitlist to the going list with not enough time to prepare. If you are on the waitlist and make other plans, please update your RSVP
Hope everyone understands and please feel free to PM me if you have questions
